Departure dates and training dates

What are the departure dates? 

Departures are in July, October, January and April for the next 3 years

Are the 10 weeks flexible?

No. The placements are all for 10 weeks overseas, and you must travel and return to the UK together as a group. You also commit to undertaking a UK Action within 3 months of your return.

What happens if I have to leave the programme early?

When you accept your offer of a placement you make a commitment to the pre-departure training, the 10 week placement, a Returned Volunteer day and UK Action on your return. Volunteers will only be able to leave early in exceptional circumstances, like in the case of the death of a close family member or in case of a serious medical condition. You cannot plan to leave the programme early.

Is the training compulsory?

Yes, all training is compulsory. You will not be able to go overseas unless you have completed the pre-departure training. You will also need to participate in the overseas in-country orientation and returned volunteers day when you are back in the UK.
