Full-time, fixed-term contract until 31 December 2015, with the possibility of extending until 30 June 2018 depending on funding

GBP £500 gross per month, payable in USD Dollars equivalent at the prevailing exchange rate

For this post we are only able to consider applicants who are fluent in Shona and/or Ndebele and have a good command of written and spoken English.

Progressio is looking for a proactive, organised and people-orientated individual, with a passion for community development and youth participation. 

The post holder will be responsible for assisting the Harare team in logistical arrangements for Progressio’s International Citizen Service (ICS) programme in Zimbabwe. The post holder will be specifically supporting the ICS Logistics Officer with procurement, volunteer recruitment and selection, engagement with host families and volunteer Action at Home/training. 

The successful candidate should have the ability to manage a varied, demanding workload and communicate well with a wide range of people, particularly young adults.

The successful candidate should have a relevant degree or equivalent experience.

Experience of working in a busy office, meeting a wide range of administrative/logistical requests and deadlines; of developing and maintaining administrative systems; of procuring services, i.e. booking travel and accommodation; of supporting a team; of working cross-culturally, particularly with young adults, and of using social media platforms for promotional purposes is essential. 

You should have a good knowledge and understanding of Zimbabwe culture and society; excellent attention to detail, accuracy and proven analytical and problem solving skills; demonstrable interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with and build effective and professional relationships with individuals/groups from different cultural backgrounds and ages; a  positive and proactive approach to work, including the ability to take on responsibility, manage deadlines and cope with changing circumstances, and good computer and numeracy skills.

Full employment rights in Zimbabwe; sensitivity to culture, gender, religion, race, nationality and age, and willingness and ability to work outside office hours and during weekends and to travel within the country, sometimes at short notice, is essential.
