£31,590 gross pa (pro rata), plus other benefits 

Fixed-term six-month contract, part-time (28 hours per week)

Based in Brixton, London 

Working in the Public Engagement team, the post holder will develop innovative and engaging content and ensure it is picked up by our supporters across all our digital and print platforms. You will have day-to-day creative and editorial oversight of the website and high-profile projects and act as brand guardian for Progressio across corporate publications, campaigning and fundraising materials. You will also have line management responsibilities for the Communications Officer. 

You will be passionate about our vision of poor people empowered to transform their lives, and ensure new and existing supporters remain engaged with our work.

The successful candidate should have a degree in any relevant field or equivalent experience.

Demonstrable experience in a digital content role; of editing, proofing and copy writing for different audiences and platforms (online and print), and managing multiple complex projects at once, including print production management, is essential. You should have experience of developing new ideas, tools and approaches to engage and grow varied audiences (online and offline); of developing, implementing and monitoring the effectiveness of communications activities; managing brand and corporate identity, and supporting teams with their digital media/print projects.

Excellent written and proofreading skills to produce concise and well-constructed written communications; graphic design skills, including InDesign and Photoshop, and  picture editing skills, including an understanding of what makes eye catching visuals, is essential. You should also have knowledge of media law, especially copyright, libel and confidentiality; search engine optimisation; content management systems, preferably Drupal and Wordpress; excellent organisation and prioritisation skills, including the ability to multi-task and to use own initiative to deliver expected outcomes to a high standard, and be an effective team player with excellent interpersonal and communicational skills.

A genuine interest and understanding of international development issues and an active interest in social justice issues; strong personal commitment to Progressio’s vision, values and goals, including a commitment to gender equality, and an ability to put them in to practice, and cultural awareness and sensitivity in an inter-faith setting, including the ability to work effectively with Catholic audiences, as well as a diverse range of people of all faiths, and at all levels is also required.
