This is a great opportunity for an individual with exceptional administrative and interpersonal skills, impressive attention to detail, initiative and a can-do attitude, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people, particularly young adults.

As part of Progressio’s ICS team, the post holder will play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of the ICS programme. The successful candidate will be jointly responsible for the administrative and logistical coordination of the Progressio ICS programme within the UK, with a particular focus and responsibility for the placements in the Central America region. This includes selecting and training volunteers and ensuring regular contact with the overseas programmes in El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua.

The post holder should have a degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

Experience of organising and prioritising a demanding workload, including working under pressure to achieve deadlines and adjusting workload in response to changing circumstances; of engaging and nurturing relationships with young adults of various backgrounds; of working in a supportive and enabling role, building working relationships with a culturally diverse workforce, spread across different geographical locations, and in public speaking or presenting to groups of young people is essential. You should also have experience in selecting or interviewing staff or volunteers; of booking flights/travel and accommodation, and procurement of services, and of dealing with enquiries from the general public.

Excellent organisation and planning skills, including the ability to multitask, and to use own initiative to deliver expected outcomes to a high standard; solid office/administration skills, including good overall knowledge of administrative systems; excellent attention to detail and accuracy; creativity, enthusiasm and the ability to inspire Progressio ICS volunteers to stay committed throughout the programme, and excellent problem solving skills and an openness to receiving feedback is essential. You should also be an effective team player with excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills; a genuine interest and understanding of international development issues, particularly of the role young adults can play in community development projects, and a willingness to undertake occasional UK travel, and to work occasional evenings and weekends.
