£23,036 gross pa, Grade B

Fixed-term contract, until January 2016 (with a possible extension to June 2018 depending on funding), full-time (35 hours per week)

Based in Brixton, London

This is a great opportunity for an outgoing and dynamic individual, with an ability to engage effectively with young adults. The post holder will be responsible for delivering post-placement training and supporting volunteers on their return to the UK from their overseas placements, including ensuring completion of their Action at Home.

The post holder should have skills in administration, logistics, social media, and the ability to deliver training sessions and inspire young adults to take up action, and remain engaged with Progressio post-placement.

The successful candidate should have a degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

Proven experience in public speaking or presenting to and engaging with groups of young adults; of supporting, motivating and enthusing volunteers; of writing inspiring web content; of using social media for promotional purposes; and administrative experience in a fast paced environment is essential. You should also have experience of organising and prioritising a demanding workload, including working under pressure to achieve deadlines and adjusting workload in response to changing circumstances; of dealing with enquiries from the general public in a friendly, tactful and confident manner, and of working in a supportive and enabling role and building working relationships with a culturally diverse workforce.

Solid office/administration skills, including good overall knowledge of administrative systems, excellent attention to detail and accuracy; ability to relate to young adults; excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate and engage with a wide range of people in a confident and collaborative manner, and to enhance effective work relationships; creativity, enthusiasm and the ability to inspire volunteers to take action on their return and stay committed to Progressio, and good problem solving skills and an openness to receiving feedback are essential. You should also have the ability to use own initiative to deliver expected project outcomes to a high standard (on time and within budget); discretion and the ability to handle confidential information appropriately, and excellent written and spoken English, including the ability to write reports and other relevant documentation.

A genuine interest and understanding of international development issues, particularly of the role young adults can play in community development; the willingness to undertake occasional UK travel, and to work occasional evenings and weekends, and cultural awareness and sensitivity in an inter-faith setting is also essential.
