£38,731 gross pa (plus other benefits)

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled programme manager with a passion for international volunteering, young people and development. This role requires excellent project management and interpersonal skills, representing externally at a senior level, to work under pressure and meet targets, the ability to coordinate a range of administrative and financial processes and to work effectively with a diverse range of people.

The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the ICS programme, work closely and support Progressio’s in-country managers delivering ICS - in El Salvador, Honduras, Malawi, Nicaragua and Zimbabwe - and with the staff of the ICS central hub, line manage the London-based ICS team, and represent Progressio in the negotiations of the new ICS phase. 

This is an exciting time for Progressio’s highly-regarded ICS programme. You will play a leading part in setting the new phase of ICS funding, ensuring we build on our successes, address emerging challenges and opportunities, and remain at the forefront of the delivery of the programme.

The successful candidate should have a degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience of working on international development issues.

A solid track record of achieving programmatic impact through working with international NGOs on programme delivery; successful programme management implementation experience spread across different geographical locations, and substantial experience in: strategy formulation, implementation and monitoring, assessing and evidencing impact and learning, and budget management (including financial reporting and reforecasting) is essential. You should also have experience of representation at a senior level, network building and of working proactively with NGOs, young people’s and faith based networks; proven people management experience; experience of staff selection and induction, and of organising and prioritising a demanding workload.

Knowledge of project management techniques and tools, and ability to ensure projects are executed within budget, on time and to high standards; excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate and work with a wide range of people (especially young adults) in a confident and collaborative manner is essential. You should also have sound judgement, problem solving skills, the ability to execute tasks in a high-pressure environment, and to react to programme adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently; excellent computer and numeracy skills (including advance Excel skills); a good understanding of international development issues and debates, and strong personal commitment to Progressio’s vision, values and goals, and ability to put them into practice.
