Background

Progressio is a member of the International Citizen Service (ICS) consortium, which has been running since 2011. Progressio sends young adult volunteers (aged 18-25) to five countries in Southern Africa and Central America on 10-week placements. They work in groups of UK and national volunteers alongside local partner organisations. The programme has three objectives:

- Project outcomes in the communities where the volunteers work

- The personal development of the volunteers

- Active citizenship of the volunteers once they have finished their placements.

Objectives of the consultancy

- To increase in-country and partner staff (Malawi and Zimbabwe) understanding of the role of young adults in development and how best to design appropriate projects to capitalise on this.

- To increase in-country and partner staff understanding of the ICS M&E framework.

- To improve the quality of ICS M&E documentation so that Progressio is able to articulate the achievements of the ICS programme more effectively.

Deliverables

The Consultant is expected to deliver the following by 14 January 2015:

a) Two-day training session to cover the items outlined above (two days in Malawi and two in Zimbabwe).

b) Training session plan that can then be used by ICS staff for future cycles.

c) Write up of the key challenges identified and an action plan for addressing them.

Ideally we are looking for Consultants already based in the Southern Africa region, preferably in Malawi or Zimbabwe. The Consultant should also have experience of conducting similar training consultancies.
