Press and Communications Intern

Public Engagement team

Three-month commitment 

Ideally three days a week (two days a week will also be considered)

Based in Brixton, London

Progressio is looking for an enthusiastic intern to support our Public Engagement team to raise the profile of Progressio’s International Citizen Service (ICS) programme, fundraising events and campaigns. You will mainly be focussing on researching, assisting with social media monitoring and planning, gathering case studies, updating the media contacts and communications database, and pitching stories to regional media in the UK. 

If you are interested in pursuing a career in a press and communications role within the charity sector, this is a great opportunity to learn relevant skills and strengthen your CV.

Is this internship right for you?

You will receive an induction and support to carry out this role. 

Ideally, we are looking for excellent writing skills; a genuine interest in international development, media and communications; enthusiasm and a proactive approach, including a willingness to speak to people over the telephone; good organisational and administrative skills, and the ability to work both in a team and individually. 

Excellent English skills (spoken and written), a respectful and diplomatic approach; good IT skills; good attention to detail, an openness to learning and reliability is also desirable. 

A background in Communications, Media Studies or Journalism would be useful, but is not essential.
