Are you aged 23 or above and have the ability to lead a diverse group of young adults? Do you want to make a difference to poor and marginalised communities abroad? Then the Progressio International Citizen Service (ICS) is for you.

Progressio ICS is an overseas volunteering programme, funded by the UK government’s Department for International Development, and brings together young adults from across the UK who want to fight poverty.

Progressio is looking for voluntary Group Leaders for placements in El Salvador, Honduras, Malawi, Nicaragua and Zimbabwe. This role is open to 23 year olds and above. This is a great opportunity to help communities improve their lives through sustainable community development projects that cater to their specific needs, develop your skills, gain new experiences and meet inspiring people. Once you return to the UK, you can also inspire social action on global issues.

Placement length is approximately three or six months (supporting volunteers for 10 week cycles and participating in handover with incoming or outgoing Group Leaders). You will receive training and flights, accommodation, insurance, food, etc will be provided. We ask that volunteers fundraise £800 to help with the costs (you will be given support to do this). There are opportunities for those who speak Spanish to use their language skills in Central America.

Group Leader candidates need to be able to demonstrate eight selection dimensions which include things such as organisational and facilitation skills, excellent teamwork skills, being flexible and adaptable, positive and committed.
