Meet our Patrons

livesimply is proud to have two senior church figures as patrons.  They are the Bishop of Clifton, The Rt Rev Declan Lang, and the Archbishop of Birmingham, the Most Rev Vincent Nichols.

Here our Patrons explain what livesimply means to them.

Declan LangBishop Lang said, "I am delighted to become a patron of the LiveSimply Network.  The impact this network has made over the last couple of years is important and for many people has been very challenging.

We must continue to be aware of the way our lifestyle can greatly affect the environment within which we live.  The consequences of our actions can have a life-changing effect on our brothers and sisters in other parts of the world.

We are part of creation and the planet has been entrusted to us as a gift to be respected and passed on to future generations.  We are called not only to have a profound respect for human life, but all life as created by God."

Archbishop Vincent Nichols

Archbishop Nichols said, "To live more simply and in solidarity is a radical gesture against injustice throughout the world…

To live more simply is to live more spiritually. Public culture in Britain today is aggressively secular and we must take on empty secularism."

Past Patrons

Bishop Crispian HollisThe Right Rev Crispian Hollis, bishop of Portsmouth, is a past patron of livesimply. Bishop Crispian says, "When I was asked to become one of the patrons of livesimply, alongside Archbishop Vincent Nichols, I realised there's no way I can not be patron.   It enshrines so much of what I believe and hope to share with my diocese and community.  It brings together people, poverty and the environment."

"Poverty, exploitation, and degradation of the environment are inextricably linked.  livesimply provides us not just with the issues to reflect upon, it also offers tools, ways to move forward, and positive actions that can help us to manage what we've got and use it responsibly.  I very much hope this message will reach people's hearts - and then I am sure their actions will follow."
