Pure Gold? (18 Apr 2008)
Pure Gold? is CAFOD's photo exhibition which lets people see for themselves the truth behind the glamour of gold. Featuring striking images, evidence and artefacts from three continents, it shows the damage caused by irresponsible mining and the efforts of local people to get their voices heard. The free exhibition starts on 21 May and runs for two weeks at the gallery @ oxo on London's South Bank, before touring UK cities including Southampton, Bristol, Plymouth, Birmingham, Cardiff and York. Young Adults and Youth Leaders are invited to a special evening event on 29 May, where George Gelber, Head of Public Policy at CAFOD, will talk about what the mining communities want and how CAFOD is helping them to get it. Reserve your free place email 29may@cafod.org.uk. The exhibition runs for two weeks at the gallery @ oxo on London's South Bank, before touring UK cities including Southampton, Bristol, Plymouth, Birmingham, Cardiff and York.
