We caught up with some of the team leaders as they made their final preparations before departing last weekend. Here’s what they said:

“I’m looking forward to expanding my skill set and helping other people whilst making some good, long-lasting friendships.” Rob Pears from Coventry – on his way to Malawi where he’ll add his skills as a logistics and ICT specialist to the Empower team

“What will make it worthwhile? Knowing I have made a difference and helped achieve something that might not have happened if I’d not been there.” David Daniels from Canterbury – going to Peru as team leader for one of the Empower teams

“I hope I will develop as a person and become more well-rounded. It should be a great experience!” Faye Marlbrough from Stockton-on-Tees – heading for El Salvador where she will help especially with monitoring and evaluation of the project

“What do I expect? I don’t think I’ll really know until I get there! Maybe when I get off the plane it will sink in that I’m actually going to El Salvador. I’m looking forward to meeting local people, learning Spanish, and just getting involved.” Natasha Kendrick from Camborne in Cornwall
