Progressio works in the following areas in El Salvador:

Civil society participation 

• Local development. Sharing knowledge, skills and resources through popular education from a local perspective. Working to strengthen communities' ability to identify, lobby and negotiate on their needs at local level, mainly in relation to municipalities.
• Strengthening the communications skills of communities and local non-governmental organisations to promote local development and equity.
• Strengthening the women's movement on response to the needs of women's organisations, and accompanying their efforts to challenge discrimination against women - whether social, economic or cultural.

Sustainable environment

• Environment and sustainable agriculture. Supporting partners' efforts to diversify subsistence agriculture and to limit the use of agro-chemicals.
• Supporting partners on the sustainable management of natural resources, food production using sustainable methods and land use planning.
• Supporting environmental education projects for children and communities and advocacy work on the protection of the environment with local and central governments.
• Through a regional project supported by the Community Fund, we are working with three counterpart organisations in Honduras, three in Nicaragua and three in El Salvador, addressing the issues of degradation and management of natural resources.
