our partnersCaritas DiliCaritas Dili is an organisation established in 1976 under the Dili Diocesian Social Commission. It was originally an emergency body established to respond to the needs of the victims of the civil war, the Indonesian invasion, famine and continuing political conflict. Later Caritas Dili was reorganised in 1991 with a new spirit to start, and develop, a just, fraternal, and social economic development process in Timor Leste. Caritas Dili undertake programme work in rural development, health care, education and training, research, women's promotion, social welfare, prison ministry, emergency aid and human rights promotion. REDE FetoREDE Feto is an umbrella organisation of 18 member LNGOs giving a coherent voice to those working on issues affecting women in Timor Leste. REDE Feto has two key strategic goals: 1) advocacy on women's issues and 2) institutional development of its members. REDE Feto has played a leading role in driving changes to legislation on domestic violence, raising awareness about rape, domestic violence and HIV and AIDS and working for greater women's representation in local political structures. This has resulted in women standing in local elections and becoming 'village leaders' - a first for Timor Leste. |
