Check out the websites and videos below for more information. "Masters of Terror" - East Timorese Massacre suspects A website documenting various crimes and atrocities and the as yet un-prosecuted military officials and civilians who committed them. Based on a book of the same name, the website cross references the information from Chapter 6 of the book in a highly accessible manner, presenting inter-linked events and locations to give the reader a clear understanding of the extent to which violence in East Timor was highly organised and pervasive. "East Timor: A Culture of Impunity" This recent news item from Amnesty International outlines how the culture of impunity in East Timor is contributing to a constant cycle of violence culminating in the recent assassination attempt on President José Ramos-Horta. According to Amnesty, the knowledge that people can commit crimes without fear of punishment keeps the country from moving forward into a peaceful long-term future. Discover Dili The official tourism website of East Timor's capital, Dili, this website includes touching discussions of how recent violent events have affected the burgeoning tourist industry. It also contains useful information about the culture and natural resources of the country - helping us to understand what the people of East Timor hope to develop and care for in the future. "East Timor and Indonesia Action Network" This U.S. based advocacy group has been working in solidarity with the people of East Timor since 1991 and is a great resource for books, up to date news on the issue and actions you can take in the run-up to Progressio's campaign.
