Gender Budgeting Adviser (two-year placement), based in Harare, Zimbabwe

Please note that for this placement we are only able to consider applicants who are fluent in Shona and/or Ndebele.

The successful candidate should have a degree in a relevant development subject such as Gender and Development, Economics, Public Finance, Public Policy or Public Administration.

You should have at least three years’ experience in gender budgeting programmes. Experience in the design, implementation and training delivery of multi-sectoral gender budgeting projects; developing training materials in gender budgeting; developing advocacy strategies especially around participation, gender and development; mainstreaming gender into national development policies, and systematising and documenting learning is essential.

You should have knowledge of public sector budgeting processes; the ability to transfer skills and knowledge on gender budgeting through formal or informal training and skill-sharing; sound knowledge and understanding of gender development and related policy issues, and skills in participatory monitoring and evaluation methods. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; maturity, sound political judgement and the ability to engage and deal with sensitive issues; excellent analytical skills, including the ability to communicate complex ideas/issues into briefings and presentations for diverse audiences in an accessible way; the ability to work as part of a team and to engage and enthuse others; good problem solving skills; readiness to work with people with widely differing social and economic backgrounds, and willingness to undertake road travel in Zimbabwe and regionally, if required, are also essential.
