This publication documents a pioneering effort in Nicaragua by the Centre for Communication and Popular Education (CANTERA) to encourage men to examine and change their behaviour. It provides an in-depth account of the training courses on masculinity developed by the centre, and the changes in men's attitudes, values and behaviour that followed. The author, a leading figure in the development of the methodology, insists that 'men's concern with gender issues and their willingness to reflect and change represents a new era in the struggle for gender equity'.
