Fixed-term, six-month contract, full-time (35 hours per week)

Based in Brixton, London

This is a great opportunity for a candidate who would like to further develop their administrative skills, and other competencies, in the context of international development and young adult volunteering programmes. This is a very varied, hands-on administration role within the International Citizen Service (ICS) team.

Being part of this small dynamic team gives you the opportunity to be involved in and take responsibility for many different administrative processes and other activities, and to interact with a diverse range of people. You should be a skilled and reliable administrator, with great attention to detail, initiative and the ability to multitask.

The successful candidate should have a degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

Proven experience of working in a busy office, meeting a wide range of administrative requests and deadlines and developing and maintaining administrative systems is essential. You should also have experience dealing with enquiries from the general public (e.g. phone calls and email correspondence) in a friendly, tactful, confident and diplomatic manner; booking travel and accommodation, and working in a supportive and enabling role, building working relationships with a culturally diverse workforce.

Solid office/administration skills, including good overall knowledge of administrative systems; attention to detail and accuracy, including in typing; the ability to engage with and motivate young adults, and strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work with a wide range of people in a collaborative manner, and enhance effective work relationships, are essential. You should also have excellent organisation, prioritising and planning skills, including the ability to multitask, meet deadlines and use own initiative to deliver expected outcomes; problem solving skills and an openness to learning; initiative, enthusiasm and a results-orientated, proactive approach, and discretion and the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.

A genuine interest in administration and an understanding of international development issues, particularly of the role young adults can play in community development projects, and cultural awareness and sensitivity in an inter-faith setting is also required.
