On the 13 October we handed in a petition to Downing Street with Global Justice Now asking the Prime Minister to formally support the UN proposed Binding Treaty on Business and Human Rights, by participating in the discussions on the nature, content and scope of the treaty taking place in Geneva this month.

The petition expresses our concerns about the absence of the UK, as a member of the EU bloc, from the negotiations on a UN Treaty on transnational corporations and other business enterprises with respect to human rights. This treaty, if adopted, could provide a historic opportunity for justice. People across the world, particularly women, who are suffering the negative consequences of the activities of transnational corporations, will finally have the opportunity to hold them to account.
