Volunteering remotely/from home

Six month commitment

Are you fluent in English with excellent Spanish language skills? Would you like to use these skills to make a difference? 

Progressio is looking for enthusiastic individuals to join a pool of volunteers and translate short documents from English into Spanish on a regular basis. You would be assisting Progressio in communicating and exchanging information on our programme work to our development workers and staff across our programmes, and external audiences.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

1. Fluency in English and a high level of proficiency in International Spanish (reading and comprehension).

2. Ability to translate from International Spanish to English.

3. Good writing and grammatical skills.

4. Attention to detail.

5. Good interpersonal and communication skills. 

6. Ability to organise time and work independently, and complete tasks to a deadline and a high quality.

7. Initiative, enthusiasm and a proactive, flexible approach to work.

8. Open to learning and positive attitude to feedback.

9. Excellent computer skills, including MS Word, email, and internet.

10. Ability to commit for a six month period and to respond to requests promptly.

Desirable

11. Degree or qualification in translation or Spanish.

12. Experience working as a translator (Spanish to English).

13. Experience of editing and proof-reading documents.

14. An active interest in or an understanding of international development issues.
