Volunteering remotely/from home
Six month commitment
Are you fluent in Spanish with excellent English language skills? Would you like to use these skills to make a difference?
Progressio is looking for enthusiastic individuals to join a pool of volunteers and translate short documents from English to Spanish on a regular basis. You would be assisting Progressio in communicating and exchanging information on our programme work to our development workers and staff across our programmes, and external audiences, making our work more accessible to our Spanish speaking audiences.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Essential
1. Fluency in Spanish and a high level of proficiency in English (reading and comprehension).
2. Ability to translate into International Spanish (i.e. for audiences in Spain and all Spanish-speaking countries).
3. Good writing and grammatical skills.
4. Attention to detail.
5. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
6. Ability to organise time and work independently, and complete tasks to a deadline and a high quality.
7. Initiative, enthusiasm and a proactive, flexible approach to work.
8. Open to learning and positive attitude to feedback.
9. Excellent computer skills, including MS Word, email, and internet.
10. Ability to commit for a six month period and to respond to requests promptly.

11. Degree or qualification in translation or English.
12. Experience working as a translator (English to Spanish).
13. Experience of editing and proof-reading documents.
14. Active interest in or an understanding of international development issues.
